New Year, new resolutions, NEW YOU!

The holiday season is the time of year where we give thanks for our many blessings, show love and kindness towards others, and then take stock of how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go in order to achieve our personal aspirations. With a fresh perspective, we set new milestones and goals, all in the name of striving to be better humans.

With true determination, the Midgett Realty team has made a resolution of our own…or a promise, if you will. The Outer Banks Promise.

The Outer Banks Promise is aimed at fostering responsible tourism and preserving both the Outer Banks’ history and way of life, encouraging everyone to do their part. This seven-part promise was created in hopes that everyone would take small but impactful steps to protect our area for future generations, so when you take this pledge, you promise to:

1. 1. Discover this land of history and inspiration with a spirit of kindness and appreciation.
   2. Turn “what ifs” into “let’s prepare.”
   3. Pack it in, pack it out. Leave no trace.
   4. Wander with wonder, sticking to roads and paths.
   5. Love the beach, respect the ocean.
   6. Be a wildlife star, observing animals safely from afar.
   7. Support local. Small acts have big impacts.

With a deep appreciation for this sprawling coastal treasure, the Midgett Brothers were leaders in bringing tourism to Hatteras Island, founding Midgett Realty in a path of businesses that did exactly that. As such, the love and admiration for our area sits deep within our roots, so making this promise was incredibly meaningful. With thoughtful conversation, we discussed how we would fulfill this promise while also honoring our founders’ legacy. What we came up with was a uniquely crafted promise of our own…

At Midgett Realty, we promise to create pathways just as past generations did to preserve and protect our history and heritage for generations to continue to respect and enjoy.
